  1. I was getting similar symptoms: hard starting when the engine is warm/hot. It would crank and crank. Only by pumping the gas pedal vigorously could i get it to start, which seemed to produce a lot of gas smell and rough idle. Was getting P1124 P1126 P0455 400 miles after replacing part 996.110.129.53 (which is referred to as a Vent line) And clearing the codes. No codes have reocurred and the hot start problem has not occurred. Hope this helps others. There is a ton of info about the Boxster problem but very little about the 996. The vent line was very easy to replace but it was expensive.
  2. I purchased the ELM 327 wifi odbii interface and use an iPad mini with Dashcmd app. It's a cool app and it helps me monitor coolant temps with more accuracy than the standard analog gauge. See my Dropbox link for pics of my install. It was a budget install only costed about $90. I did the trim rings myself out of Lexan using a Dremel tool. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/sjz0xesxsvew51o/fOAGlBDTjY
  3. Can we say...Too much information?... You already have 18" wheels 10" wide. That's about the max unless you want to change the offset to something more aggressive OR move to 11" or 12" wide. Any of these situations, you will encounter some rubbing. Since you want to do track events, that basically says you should stick with what you got. I now run 11x18 with 295/30R18 with 45 offset in the rear and I had to roll the fenders. I don't do any track stuff...don't have any aspirations to mess with track stuff...because I am all about looks. and I LOVE the way mine look. And mine don't rub (after I rolled the fenders) If I was YOU, I would refinish my factory rims to a different color (black?) buy some ultra high performance tires, and lower it with a H&R lowering springs/shocks kit. Only because you mentioned track events...Otherwise...the narrow body CAN fit the wide body rims/tires. Oh and here's another piece of advice...I buy used rims and tires all the time, but I would not want to buy used suspension components (springs/shocks). Springs get "tired" and shocks lose their damping ability. if they were VERY cheap, I would consider (because I am all about looks!)
  4. I had a small leak in the left side that dripped on the exhaust manifolds and made a terrible stink when it got hot and vapored off. I replaced the O-rings in the oil tubes when I replaced the spark plugs and that fixed it :)
