  1. Loren, My Mac i-tunes didn't have an "audio" burn, so with your info I downloaded a Mac audio CD burn, it worked... Many thanks for your direction and help. Another question, what is the ORVR fuse (fuse E6) for? E7 fuse is for "info" and "telephone", I don't have a telephone accessory so do you need this fuse? Is this "info" for the telephone only or does it support some other functions? Thanks again for all of your help...
  2. Loren, Help... please explain "pure audio files", are you saying that only original CD disc's work on my player? Thanks, and I deeply appreciate all of your help.
  3. I have some long time burned CD-CR and CD-CRW disc that work fine in my family car, but will not work (the player does not recognize the disc) in my single disc CD player. I've tried to use the CD-CR in lieu of the CD-CRW w/o success. I also put the files into MP3 hoping that would do it, nah... I'm using i-Tunes on my Mac to burn the disc. I also burned them at the slowest burn rate. I know the burn was successful since they worked on the other car... Any ideas? Thanks
  4. I don't know if this will help anybody, but since the Owner's Manual didn't have the fuse layout I copied this out of the Bentley's manual. Note this is specific to my 996 car (coupe), year model (2003) and matches my accessories. I thought I would leave a copy of this in the glove compartment just in case. If anyone doesn't have this information and wanted specific information as it pertains to the car I would be happy to look it up for ya. Whoooops, this application won't allow me to upload an .xls file. If anyone wants a copy just PM me with your e-mail and I'll attach it to my reply.
  5. Thanks Loren... is the filter washable or it needs replacing depending on the car's environment? Good information... I'll reply with a larger pix of the "box". Sort of reminds me of the "smuggler's box" in my 911. This box is about 1' ahead of the pollen filter and has a ribbed plastic cover over the opening with a single M/S that holds the lid in place. BTW, your car looks well maintained...
  6. I still need to replace the micro switch at the trunk latch mechanism... Glenn at Pelican said he would order one for me. However I still wanted to control the trunk light, so I installed this lighted switch. Interesting enough the trunk light will turn off when the interior lights go off after closing the door. It's on the same circuit as the interior lights. FYI, C3 15A fuse protects the interior lights, the sun roof motor, and the trunk light. There's a couple of other accessories that I can't think of this minute that works off the same fuse.
  7. Loren said this was the "pollen filter" receptacle. Receptacle is probably not the correct nomenclature for this, but here's a pix. My box is empty, should there be something in there? Or is this an accessory that I don't have?
  8. Geeez, I never thought of that, I better be sure I have the car in neutral before pulling on the cable...
  9. JudgeJon, Are you saying that the cable I have in place is not factory stock. I didn't try and pull on the cable to see if it released the engine lid when I had the tail light assembly off the car. I'll go back and check out the cable to be sure it's ready to go if need be... Now it's a 1,000', no more 1/4 mile.
  10. fbb111, Good idea, so rather than re-route the cable to the underside of the car if needed you just "gently" push up the rear tail light assembly to access the emergency cable with a hook wire... Thanks,
  11. Thanks Loren for the quick reply... Has anyone come up with a fix for the tail light hold down tabs. I thought you could pop rivet an aluminum tab, but the angles of the lens body might make that difficult? The tabs glued up well so for now they're in good shape. But that will be a future project to clean that up... Should I have a pollen filter in the body cavity? I see there's a stud at the bottom of the box, but there is also some electrical components on the side. I know my "84" Turbo Look backwards and forwards, but the 996 is a whole different animal. I'm loving the car, the engine and tranny are as smooth as silk, plus it's fast... I appreciate your help!
  12. Loren, are you saying that the bulb holder is also a switch? Or do you mean it's a bulb holder only. I originally thought the trunk light would be a rocker type lens that turned on and off the light, much like my "84" interior lights.
  13. I can't find the delete button on the "edit" page, is there one or double posts, etc? Thanks,
  14. Does everyone feel comfortable "jacking" on the engine. I've already read in several posts where members have had to replace their motor mounts because of wear, I'm wondering if this only hastens their demise? Thanks,
  15. I apologize for all these questions. I read my owner's manual, but didn't see an answer to the following: 1. I removed the tail light assemblies to Rhino glue the eyelet attaching tabs the the 2 mounting screws secure the tail light assembly. On the left side there was a Stainless Steel cable that came up through the tail light cavity floor. Is this a mechanical cable to open the engine lid? However the engine lid needs to be open to get to the 2 machine screws> 2. I removed the plastic cover (approx 3"X10") that is on the right hand side of the trunk shelf. There's nutin' there, is the box for some electrical accessory that I don't have? Thanks for your help, I'm trying to get up to speed on my new car.
  16. Thanks for the info.. Looks like a pretty simple fix. I'm guessing the latch assembly is $100 plus part? I'm not so sure that a lighted rocker switch might not be a bad idea It's a lot cheaper that a new hood latch assembly (or just the micro switch) and you will get more utility out of it.
  17. Reference: 2003 996 C4S - This is my first post, I tried to put up this message on the DIY area and I think it failed? Anyway, my problem is the trunk light won't turn off when you close the trunk lid. To verify this I put my i-Phone in video and closed the lid on it, the light was still on. The P.O. dealt with this by disconnecting the trunk light wiring. The light works, but won't shut off, anyone know where the trunk light switch is? On my "84" it's on the right hand hood hinge. I've looked every where, but can't find it. I've thought about installing a rocker switch next to the light so if you have the hood open for extended periods of time you could just switch off the light manually. Thanks for any help...
