  1. MY99 C2. Any suggestions will be appreciated. I went on vacation for 2 weeks, before which the car was running just fine. Got back yesterday and started car this morning. Started right up but ran rough and within 20 seconds had a CEL. As I drive the car, it definitely feels like I'm running on 5 cylinders.
  2. What is the procedure you use for oiling your filter. How much? What are you using for oil? And How do you apply it?
  3. I also have a 99 C2 (6speed) that I insatlled the EVO intake on. I sent my ECU off to AWE tuning and had the GIAC upgrade flashed in. $1000. I'm sure you already know that 20 or so hp gains are claimed with this combination. I've never had a dyno done so I can't verify. I can say that I like the results. You get a bit better throttle response at take-off because the flat spot is gone! It feels like better torgue. The biggest difference is a bit harder to quantify. The best way I can descride it is that the car feels grittier. In a good way! And the obvious awsome sound that the EVO intake provides at high rpms. My only caution does relate to the intake. Over oiling will mess up your MAF. (You know what that is because you had to transfer it to the new intake). I had mine go bad about 4K miles after installing the intake. That's with whatever amount of oil came on the filter because I have yet to re-oil it (after 6K). MAF replacement included a lecture from the dealer about aftermarket air intakes voiding the warranty on the new part. Otherwise, no regrets.
  4. I got them from Suncoast. $169.00 set www.suncoastporsche.com
  5. I installed the EVO V-Flow w oiled filter on my 99 C2 and 6 months after install got a CEL that read bad MAF and dealer lectured me about using aftermarket air intake. It voids warranty on new MAF.... 100 miles later and symptoms that caused CEL are back. Bad hesitation over 5K rpms. No CEL yet because I back off the throttle when I feel the hesitation. Hard to believe that new MAF would be bad. I haven't yet purchased a code scanner but I am considering re-installing stock air intake to see if problem goes away. Questioning whether or not mod is worth it.
  6. Thanks, Plugs changed at major maint. about 15K ago. Would a bad plug read out as MAF problem?? Unfortunately, paperwork from dealer does not indicate specific P code. Any suggestion as to make and model of code scanner? Get yourself a scanner to read the codes or stop by Autozone and ask them to read it. When was the last time you changed the plugs? A good scanner that can read the codes as well as all major sensor readings is a MUST for new cars. You could have invested $250 or less in a scanner and found that the problem was not the MAF and still be ahead bt $250+ thanks to another dealer ripoff. Did the dealer give you the old MAF back? Probably not. A local dealer was caught recently putting in replaced MAF's after cleaning them and charging full price to customer.
  7. Hi all, 99 C2 72K miles w GIAC upgrade flashloaded (10/05) & Evo V-flow intake (6/05). I am going around in circles with this problem. Experiencing very bad bucking north of 5K. Back off throttle and it recovers. Finally CEL went on during this hesitatation. Dealer said code read bad MAF so they replaced ($500+ ouch!) Service manager lectured me about use of aftermarket intake and that it voids the warranty on the new MAF. 80 miles later and the problem is back. It may never have gone away but I just happened to push the car under hard accel. recently and it still has the problem. Have not pushed to the point of the CEL going on again... AWE, who did the flashload, said its not that. Todd at Evo says MAF failure in non-turbo is very rare. I have only put 4K on since I installed the V-flow and have not yet re-oiled it so I am doughtful that this ever was a contaminated MAF....Anyone??
  8. O.K. I have a 99 C2 w 72K miles. The dealer pointed out the leak between the Engine and trans. "might be RMS".. Ya think so? Here is my question. If I plan on doing a new clutch within 15K miles, am I in danger of damaging anything if I wait? I read hear about people who go through 3 or 4 RMS's but I am not seeing anyone telling what the ramifications are of letting this slide. What if you never replace it? What will happen? Is part of this owners not being able to handle the thought of spending $$$ on their cars and seeing oil on the garage floor?
  9. Guten Tag, i was surfin a bit in the internet to find some international information about the underperforming rear main seal, which i know as "undichter Kurbelwellen-Dichtring" or mostly called "Simmering" issue. I own a 996 built in March 1999 about 100.000 kilometers. I have the fifth rear main seal. The last one is the "new Super-Duper Wellendichtring" from Cayenne. I have got it built in 4 weeks ago by my Porsche-Dealer. and the car is leaking again!!! The problem isnt solved, beleave me. --bob
