  1. What I think you're trying to quote is the cost of each rotor, not pads. Deanski
  2. There is a emergency release near the front passenge size inner wheel well for the 996. See if the same thing for the 997? Never thought of that... I wonder too. I'll have to check this one. Thanks for the info gchu  Regards, Deanski
  3. My problem is the garage where it will be stored has no power. Therefore I have to remove the battery. Once out, is there a way to close the hood (boot) once the battery is out and then reopen it via the attachments in the fuse box area come spring? :help: Seeing there is not a battery for continuity for the connection, I assume it cannot be opened once closed and the fuse box emergency attachemenst are used. My guess is I have to keep the hood cracked when I cover it for the winter. Regards, Deanski
  4. I too will be removing the battery for storage of my 997S. I guess the hood (boot) cannot be fully closed once the battery is out. As for jack stands, not a good idea as it will expose shock cylinder to rusting. Better off with inflate tires to 50-60 lbs and use Tire Cradles. Deanski
  5. Yea, me too.. :D Well, maybe they will have a better antenna. Regards, Deanski
  6. The unit should mount on top of the NAV unit or if you have the CD Changer on top of that. If you're having a dealer install it, you can have them contact Danbury Porsche in CT and ask for Lonnie who did the install on several units. The only thing I have an issue with is reception is not as good as it should be. This is due to location of antenna uner cowel, replacing the NAV antenna. Maybe one day Porsche will get with the program that satellite is a very big option in the USA. BTW, that's a great price on the kit! Regards, Deanski
  7. I have PCCB's on my new 06 997 C2S and you/they are correct that there is very little or no brake dust. Very easy to keep wheels clean. These also shed 37lbs off the vehicle, stop like throwing an anchor out and feel superb to any other brakes I've felt including race steels. Ceramic rotors and pads should be standard on all high performance cars! One problem, when soaking wet, say after washing the car, they do not stop at all until dry. Also, replacement cost per rotor is $5K per rotor! It's a great option if you can check off that box! Regards, Deanski
  8. Now that's funny! I'm always at a THD, so one day I'll look around. After checking around, I hear Farnbacher-Loles also offer a screen set for the Aerokits as well. With fall now in effect, leaves are going to find there way into these areas and want to avoid that problem as well as rocks. Seems that one has to also remove the entire front bumper for install. As long as it works and looks good I'm all for it! Already, I had to change my lower front lip on the Aero to a GT3 one as it was damaged by curb rash hits. The GT3 is a matte black as it is. Original would have to be re-shot with paint. Seeing I'm going to go through these often, I went with the GT3 ones. Regards, Deanski
  9. Check with your dealer. Some have a vendor who can repair the rims and you'll never know they were damaged! They deflate the tire, sand and fill damage then paint it and add clearcoat. Once cured, tire gets re-inflated and you're on your way. My dealer offers this service and I've seen the work. And, I'll be needing it as well. I too have slight rim "rash" from a curb. Sure beats getting a whole new rim. There are also companies that will exchange your rim with a referb one. Regards, Deanski
  10. If battery on fob blinks the LED on it do the following: Open the car with the other key. Insert the fob not working into ignition switch and turn it on, but not starting car, but just as you would to check oil. Once on, hit the "unlock door" button on fob in ignition switch. It now should respond. Mine did the same thing not working even after replacing battery. Found this fix just by testing a few things, then it worked and has worked both unlock door and trunk. Regards, Deanski
  11. AFAIK and it has not been confirmed, but PCA has not "approved" this install yet. I don't think dealers have the TIB or other announcements. Besides, last I hear, the vendor who makes the antennas is still developing a new antenna for the 997. That being said from a letter from Porsche Germany to one of the RENNLIST members who posted the info. Therefore, most dealers will or will not do the install. It's a good money maker for the dealer as they really do not have to use a lift for install, so lift-time is not an issue. Cost me about $600 +/- labor for my kit install. A dealer that has a service staff that does not know how to install can contact other dealerships for info. Danbury Porsche in Danbury, CT is one. Once in, if it's a Sirius unit, you'll get drop-outs often due to antenna location. I hear it's not so bad with XM. It may be a Sirius thing and if and when they get the other satellite into orbit, it may improve. Most drop-outs are in the AM and obviously under tree-lined roads. Depending on where you are that is. So now it's go at your own risk as it will not be a warranty item. So far, no issues with my kit. Deanski
  12. I think it's time to call PCNA and request oversight from their technical staff. It sounds like the dealer is just fidgeting at this point... MHO, -d I agree get PCNA to resolve the problems. Deanski
  13. I don't think the Cargraphic screens will fit an Aerokit front openings. I asked Cargraphics a while back and they informed me that they will not work/fit. They wanted to know if my car was going to be in Germany longer, but no-go. I'll have to check with them one more time to be sure. Thanks! Deanski, Dr. Shine
  14. You can get the screens from Performance Products. They come in black or silver and cost $300 for the set. Hope this helps . THANKS JEAN! I'll be looking at these shortly. Just today as I was getting ready to park it in the garage, there is a curb that sticks out from the garage area to assist downspout runoff. I pulled too far up and wacked the front Aerokit lip! Pulled it right off the passenger side. Lucky these can be snapped back in, but the corner of it is held by a screw. **** IT! :censored: I've been so carefull up to this point. After calling my dealer, come to find out that the new GT3 lower lip is in a satin finish and the original is primer finished. Gess which one I'm ordering from Germany? :D Thanks once again, Deanski, Dr. Shine.
  15. I am trying to locate screens that will fit a 997 Aerocup Kit front radiator area. Who sells these things? What do they look like? How much of a PITA is it to install these? Do they come in color options? I hate the fact the radiators are wide open to all type of debris with the Aerokit. Thanking you in advance! Deanski Dr. Shine
  16. They didn't tell you that between 30-45 mph the exhaust would sound like stock whether or not you hit the button? Who did your Cayenne kit Sat install? How much? Thanks. Carlos Nope, my PSE sounds loud as soon as you hit the button. You can hear it change sounds at idle. Goose the throddle and it's loud! As for the satellite PCM install, Danbury Porsche did the work and it's a $500.00 to $600.00 labor charge for the install. The kit, depending if you have a CD-Changer is upwards of $1300. However, it seems PCA got wind of dealers doing installs w/o proper TIB's etc and have made all the Cayenne kits that were in stock and avalible to not avalible. What I suspect is that a Cayenne owner who wants satellite in their SUV will have to provide a VIN, then PCA will "release" a kit to the dealers parts department. Some dealers have these kits in stock for Cayenne purchases. Porsche did respond to a RENNLIST member regarding the whole satellite issue for the 997. WHat was said was that Porsche has yet to get a vendor to correctly mfg a working satelliet/NAV antenna. Sure, the Cayenne one does work, but Porsche wants to improve the kit. Besides, it has to go before all the lawyers and techs to provide a new TIB or guide for dealer install. It works pretty well. I get drop-outs in the morning when the satellite is low in the horizon and under tree lined roads. Other than that, works well! Deanski
  17. I have PSE in my C2S and it's loud as soon as I hit the Sport button. No need to wait till a higher MPH/RPM. I also have satellite radio in my PCM. It's from a Cayenne kit. It DOES work! :clapping: Deanski
  18. Me too in regard to the acquiring signal! It does happen more near dusk and mostly under tree covered roads. Odd thing, when I was in my garage, the **** signal is fine! I wish they (PCA) or someone come up with a new antenna for this! At one point, Germany was stating that they have a vendor working on an antenna for the "sport car" versions, but no ETA at all. The other item is that I do not have the Sirius dog logo when I'm on satellite. But at least it works for the most part! Who needs the IPOD adapter when I have 7 CD's and satellite? Maybe if I was doing long trips I'd go with the IPOD, but no need to now! :D Deanski
  19. I love being able to turn it on and off at will. The best thing is getting next to one of those "rice" cars, you know, the ones with the coffee-can muffler hanging out the back and sounding like a chain saw? A quick flip of the switch and it's loud. The next thing he sees is the rear of my Aerokit wing or "flying taco" as I pass in front by a long distance without any effort. Nice to be a bit stealthy at times! :D Deanski
  20. My new '06 C2S with PSE from factory works like a champ! As soon as I hit the Sport button, you can hear the exhaust note change as the valve opens. Even at idle. Take it back to the dealer and see if you can "play" with a 997 that has it from factory and you'll hear the change right away. Then tell them to make yours the same. It may be a simple fix. Deanski
  21. UPDATE: Porsche NA has pulled the avalibility of the satellite kits for the Cayeene. What was avalible is no longer avalible. :censored: It seems they (Porsche) got wind of what some dealers were doing (installing the sat kit) without an authorized TIB for the 997. Going forward for Cayeene users, I'm sure if a VIN was provided the kit would be released to the dealer. It looks as if Porsche may have a kit becoming ready for the 997 with improved antenna as the Cayeene does work, but was not designed for the 997 under cowl mount. This is speculation as to the 997 satellite kit, but then again, why pull ALL satellite kits from in stock avalibility to unavalible? Porsche must be working on a resolution and I do hope soon. By the way, my Sirius works great in my C2S! If you doubt this, go to your parts department and try to order a kit. It will show none avalible. Regards, Deanski
  22. Once again you post with those wonderful pic! This is helping all of us who wanted it from the factory, but factory having yet to approve the install, let alone finding an antenna that matches just for the 997. I'd advise anyone thinking about doing this to review this post here and on RENNLIST 997 forum for all details! Can't wait for my C2S to arrive so it too can be retro-fitted with Sirus! Thanking you once again big guy! Regards, Deanski
  23. The rear deck lid lifts just as before - the rear spoiler does not move. Thank you for the quick reply! I was under the impression that the rear deck was able to still lift at higher speeds. I knew that the fixed rear spoiler was not moving being fixed. Just never seen an Aerokit 996 or 997 on the road to view if the desk still lifted. My build date: March, hopefully, late April or May for my C2S. Black, Black full leather, Yellow seatbelts, PCCB's, Sport shift, PSE, Sport Chrono, Adaptive sport seats, Bose, Nav, Aerokit, and more. Also, an attempt to remove/add Cayenne satellite system into 997. :renntech: Regards, Deanski
  24. OK stupid question. Does the rear deck still lift if you have a factory Aerokit installed? Or do they deactivate the lift of the deck? I have an Aerokit being installed on my new C2S and I never asked this at the dealership. Regards, Deanski
