  1. Hello - Porsche is telling me my cats are both bad. Anyone have any recommendations for a replacement pair? Thanks
  2. Is the sound coming from the engine compartment? I had something similar on an 04 where the power steering pulley was slipping against the serpentine belt. The new pulley is plastic. No more sound. This happened anywhere above 5mph.
  3. The power steering pulley is worth changing if it is the aluminum type. I was changed to plastic. That eliminated all of the belt noise from the motor. I'd replaced the belt tensioner and that was the last pulley I replaced - turns out the pulley was the issue.
  4. I replaced the sensor at the rear of the valve head cover. It hasn't solved this problem. Has anyone replaced the camp position sensor before? This is the part number - 948.105.303.05. Looks like the valve cover needs to come off and this part should be easy to remove/replace.
  5. Can anyone recommend a good service company to rebuild the calipers if that's the way I should go? Any opinions on rebuild vs new? I'd rather not waste my time with a rebuild if its not going to perform well.
  6. I checked rim temp - neither side seems to be getting hot, Checked the air pressure on bot front tires and its 38 as specked. The car has a fresh alignment - 1000 miles ago. How do I check for a bad tire? They are Nito tires - kind of an aggressive tread - could that be the issue?
  7. 70k - on the car. This can't be normal - I'm sure its not hurting anything, but its not normal.
  8. Warm day today 65 - now it always starts in D2..... Should I warm the car up for a few if its below that???
  9. wrinkledpants - I tried that dme reset and it didn't change much. I'm near Boston, so the temp as been well under 58 for a long time. It seems like a temp issue. It warmed up today and the problem was gone.
  10. Hello - I back out of my driveway. When I shift to drive the transmission selects "1". It jerks when it shifts from from "1" to "2" and then "3". After it warms up, it seems to start normally in "2" and shifts like butter. Any ideas what's wrong?
  11. Sorry, no. Do you think its air or possibly drivetrain noise. My 2004 s has plenty of both, but nothing that sounds quite like your sound.
  12. replaced tensioner and all turning pulleys and serpentine belt. Noise still happening. Fixed finally by replacing the power steering pulley - the old one was aluminum - new is plastic. Nice to drive in a quiet car!
  13. I've changed oil and filter - M1-5-30 euro blend. Porsche dealer says possibly running heavier weight oil and adding some ATF may clear this error? Any recommendation on the weight I should use and amount of ATF I should add. Alternative to ATF could be Lucas. I'm guessing the strategy is to clean out oil system in hopes of clearing this. - Has this worked for anyone? I hear two names for possible bad parts - a vario cam adjuster, and an inlet camshaft adjuster - Are these the same parts? How difficult is this to replace? Also it seems this can be caused by a stretch in the timing chain. Is there some way to adjust this without replacement and why doesn't the chain tensioner compensate?
  14. Would like to extract the creature from behind the center dash. I've seen from other posts that this is commonly caused by the AC flap motors. Can someone post their location in a diagram. Any DIY instructions would be a big help as well.
  15. I think the problem is due to a cleaning product screwing up the button paint. You have to replace the airbag - to get new buttons - nearly 1k from porsche - I've seen a few on ebay between 3 and 500. I have the same problem with mine - probably going to get some touch up paint for now. Lots of other sounds that need a priest and 500 to extract that are ahead of the crappy buttons on the annoyance scale.

  17. Thanks for the feedback - it seems to be getting less noticable with time driving, so I'm thinking it could be corrosion on the rotor after sitting for a while. I've brought it to a pro to figure it out. I'll let you know what I find out.
  18. Truck as a fresh alignment. When I brake, the car pulls to the right - and down a bit. Any ideas on what this might be?
  19. Found this earlier post - http://www.renntech.org/forums/topic/23017-pcm-21-retrofit/
  20. I have a nav unit with a cd, can this be replace with the DVD unit - are there other parts that need to be replaces along with the DVD unit to make it function correctly?
  21. Hi - Just had a ppi on a 2004 cs. The car shows a cam position error, but no engine lights. Car has 70k - Should I be really worried about this? Any suggestions on how to fix this would be great. Also, lower control arm ball joints need replacement - any idea on cost here? Thanks
