  1. Agreed....i do believe all Turbos in 2004 came with air suspension, 2 speed transfer case, and locking FRONT diff. Rear locking diff was an option for all models. I do not believe ANY Cayenne has a locking front diff. It's a bit misleading, because the 4WD control shows 3 LED positions. The rear most one is the locking rear diff, and that is there whether or not your car has one. The front one does NOT correspond to a locking front diff as would follow from this design. The center light is low range, and the front light indicates that the center diff is locked, (even though it mimics the position directly opposite of the rear locking diff indicator.) Check page 177 of your owners manual. VERY few vehicles come from the factory with a locking front diff, the Rubicon Jeep and certain Hummers come to mind, maybe a G-Class, Pinzgauer...not much else. I don't think you can even get one in a Range Rover.
  2. I have a 2006 Cayenne S with built in phone/Nav. Havana interior. Tiptronic. Is it possible to buy just the buttons on the steering wheel? I need the ones that include the phone buttons. I have seen eBay sellers selling just the buttons, it comes in a "V" and includes the Tiptronic buttons...but no airbag...but unfortunately none have come up in the proper color and button combination. I'd hate to have to buy the airbag. Can someone point me in the right direction with a part number? PS...Previous owner must have been some sort of trophy bride with a huge rock on her ring finger......mostly chewed up on the left side.
  3. Can someone please explain why replacing the cardan shaft is such a common repair? Why not just replace the intermediate bearing by itself if it fails? I realize this requires splitting the driveshaft to replace, but if you scribe both parts of the driveshaft, the driveshaft should not need re-balanced. Or are there other failure points in the cardan shaft? Also, while the Vertex solution seems interesting, you are still using an old bearing. Many times, center driveshaft bearings themselves fail or freeze up, then take out the surrounding rubber.
