  1. Unfortunately my 2000 base model seems to also have this unexpected alarm issue. Twice in one night the the alarm suddenly went off with no obvious reason. The only thing I think it could be is that I routinely make sure the steering wheel is locked when I exit the vehicle. However tonight I did not lock the steering wheel. I hope this is the problem. Any thoughts anyone??
  2. It would appear that I have become victim to the infamous coolant tank split/leaking issue on my 2000 Base Model 986. I have read the article on how to remove your coolant overflow tank (see below link.) http://www.dietersmotorsports.com/tech/tech9-03-2003.htm The article indicates you need to raise the vehicle and remove cross members/protection plates/misc parts from the bottom of the vehicle to remove the overflow tank. Has anyone here been able to remove the tank any other way? I ask because looking at a photo of a new overflow tank. (See attached Photo.) It would appear that the only thing keeping the coolant tank in place are three ten mm bolts, three hoses kept in place by pressure fittings and the oil filler hose (see black hose with O ring.) Can the overflow tank be replaced without raising the vehicle and accessing the engine compartment> Thanks In advance
  3. In my case I have a 2005 955. The DVD unit is under the driver's seat. I fear I may need to bite the bullet and have the dealer do it. I know the process probably involves verifying the PCM software version (MAIN + TRIP) and probably installing the software from the DVD unit under the seat. This will be a $400 dollar experience (upgrade + new map dvd) I was hoping someone was adventurous enough to try it themselves Thanks Gang
  4. I suspect this issue affects many people. I have a MY 2005 955 with PCM. By pressing MAIN and TRIP I have confirmed my software version is 1.0. When I went to the dealer they told me that in order to use any of the new Audio/Communications Tequipment they would have to upgrade my software. Cost of the Software upgrade and the DVD with the 2007 maps is on sale at $385. My car is still under warranty. Is the software upgrade something they should do? Has anyone been able to upgrade the software themselves? Is this something I could do myself? OR Should I bite the bullet and let the dealer do it? Thanks
