  1. Your old valve body could be easily fixed you know. If i were you i'd send back the one you've bought. Use search and look for Transgo kit.
  2. That's what i mean. If you could read tranny temp and reset the gearbox i would say go for it but you can't.
  3. For my Benz i can't reset anything. I also have Vagcom and i think both are almost identical.
  4. I have the i980 for MB and i'm happy with it. Fine for manufacture specific code reading and clearing but that's about it.
  5. Valve body back in its place so i took it for a huge drive. Shifting very nice now. I didn't reset the tranny all i did was drive. In the beginning it was acting a little strange on kickdown. Overall i'm very happy shifts like new!
  6. Ok my kit arrived today. Comes with a manual. Mine only hard shifts from 5th back to 4 when hot so it seems i don't have to mess with the solenoids at all. I'm loving this kit already. I already did the first 2 steps. Tomorrow i'll finish it off. Quite excited :) For those who are still doubting: valve body repair can be done at home by any backyard mechanic. @ Krunkymonkey: Thanks for your help!
  7. You might want to torque the bolts, sometimes they come loose. After changing the gaskets smoke will still come because it is difficult to clean up all spilled oil. Take it for a nice long drive. I can still remember the horrible smell of burning oil.
  8. There is a video on a Transgo kit for a 09G valve body on youtube. Is it same procedure for our tranny? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTGQCMzm-5U
  9. I connected my VAGCOM and it doesn't seem to reset the transmission. I did not put a jumper but it seemed to work. It read no codes i deleted fault codes but i don't think resetting codes is the same as resetting gearbox? Should i still put a jumper or what should i do. Before changing oils and filter and cleaning valve body it hardshifted sometimes from third back to second now it does it all the time going from 5th to fourth.
  10. I have not, i haven't had the guts to open the VW scanner yet. To be honest. I had forgotten about that.
  11. Ok, i went to take it for a spin. Smoothes real good and quickly the problem was going from 3th to second, that completely disappeared. Now It happens when shifting from 5th back to forth. Upshifting also a little bit. Car shift a whole lot better overall but the problem still is there. Just that the shifting problem shifted to another gear. Shall i go for the Transgo or should i try it again? This time opening up the valve body.
  12. I did get the solenoids but i did not get the valve body open. Car has less then 50k miles so i thought i'd give it a try. Like i said if it doesn't work i'll go for the transgo kit.
  13. There is a kit called transgo which fixes the solenoids and shows you how to open and clean the valve body. I am just trying to fix my valve body cheaper. I live in South America so sending back core would be somekind of difficult and expensive. A lot of Toyota suffer this same problem and i saw guys fixing the issue just by cleaning the valve body. So that's what i tried. Monday i'll tell you if it worked or not.
  14. I hope i will not be needing the Transgo Kit. I saw a video on the kit and it seems pretty involving. I'll tell you monday if it worked or not. Fingers crossed!
  15. Valve body cleaned with carb cleaner, contact spray and WD40. Solenoids tested and they seemed fine. Valvebody back in place pan also. Monday i'll get the new oil in. I have 6 quarts of Aisin T4, can i add some Toyota T4 which should be the same?
  16. I have got my pan out. Transgo kit will take two more week to arrive so i'm going to try it without. Tomorrow i'll get the valve body out. Clean them solenoids and see if anything changes.
  17. This seems difficult but doable. I'm sure i'll be back, when the valve body is on my table, with more questions. I'm going all the way. Worst case scenario is ending up buying another valve body at least i will be able to say that i have tried.
  18. Seems like a good plan. I'll order the transgo kit. how to reset the gearbox using vag-com? Is there a write up? Can i try resetting the gearbox to see if anything changes?
  19. I love this post. I saw the kit on Amazon and it got me thinking. I too am suffering hard downshifts. My car stood for a long time and it seems to be going away but it still is there. Nevertheless i want to find a cheap solution to this problem. I will try to do the same without opening the solenoids, i am just going to clean them and put them back, new gasket and Aisin transmission oil. Plain and simple if that doesn't work i'll open them after all. I just want to give it a try. I've seen this trick work on other Aisin boxes.
  20. 4 years later :) having some problem, the lowest cilinder bank had all coils wet with engine oil. I have the original coils still in my Cayenne which i bought 2 weeks ago. 50k miles on it. All 8 of them are cracked. I have already ordered the newest which is 08 or 09 by now. Did you change gasket or find out why there was oil in the spark plug wells?
  21. Piwis i have been looking for since car has other issues as well and my Innova 3160 does not seems to be much of a help. I did some searching but i am not very shure which one connects to the most and pcm system. I also found some Piwis 2 tester but none of them says a word about clearing protect codes on radio. It just seems so sad to pay a lot of money for something that can't fix my radio. There is little to be found about these piwis testers. I guess the cpo on ebay won't tell me much more then my Innova.
