  1. Cortf, buy 0W40 Mobil 1 full synthetic.
  2. Ehh, please post pictures when you're done!
  3. Team996, if you don't like the thread move-on and don't post in it. Didn't they teach you any manners in your school?
  4. Dang, that would make MacGyver proud! Don't forget: turkey stuffing gravy cranberries yams pumpkin pie duct tape emergency tire repair kit cell phone phone numbers for a few Porsche dealership along your route
  5. Richard, I think you should delete your Vin # above for safety reasons, IMHO.
  6. Hi Cannoli, do we really get discounts on service? I thought it was just parts at some places. Thanks.
  7. ToolPants or Loren will be able to send you the radio code. You might be able to find a manual on eBay.
  8. The boots seem ok, no cracks etc. Dirt can still be inside, though. Does the noise change as you turn the car, and put stress on different sides/corners?
  9. Try running a couple tanks with fuel injector cleaner too. The Chevron product with techron is very good. I agree with Perelman too on the MAF.
  10. Me too...I did 420 awesome miles today. In the garage by 2:30 PM, then went rollerblading with my 2 little girls and wife. 8 more miles! Mexican dinner. Now watching the Illinois vs. Michigan game and the Red Sox vs. Cleveland! Life is very good! :)
  11. Actually, you should have changed the Spark Plug twice already. At 30K and again at 60K. The poly rib drive belt is due at 60K too.
  12. Plugs should have been done at 60K. This is one of the cheaper DIY projects.
  13. Richard, Good point. When I filled out the sample form for Blackstone, I indicated M1 0W-40 because I assumed that it was the factory fill. From the narrative on the top of the analysis, Blackstone said that factory fills are in a 30 weight grade range, so this is why the KV100 value wasn't in the SAE J300 required 12.5 - 16.3 cSt range. If this isn't true, and Blackstone and I are both wrong, then the oil sheared down like crazy. Regards, paul... Paul, another good reason to change the factory fill early. Do you agree with this strategy? I did the first oil change at about 1,300 miles.
  14. I vote RUF and I would do the 3.6 swap. Costs big-big bucks. I hope to do it one day, after my warranty is done. Wayne there at RUF is a great guy. Very helpful.
  15. Paul, let's say the graphs start pointing in directions what you don't like. Then what do you do? Hypothetically speaking.
  16. Come on, Paul, why are you concerned about a $9 quart of oil for a +$65,000 Porsche!! :) I know where you are coming from, I run 5W40 Red Line. The only way to get an accurate read on the oil level is in the morning, on level ground, just before start-up. If you check when the oil is hot, it will almost always say full. Open up that last bottle....it's not Screaming Eagle!!!
  17. The Manual is correct at 7.75 quarts. Each bar is about 8 ounces of oil. This is for the 987 Boxster. Just check the oil level each morning, and add to the bar just one below full. It takes a long time for the oil to register...more than 15 minutes. You really want the oil as full as possible, without overfilling, since greater than 50% of the engine cooling comes from the oil.
