New Boxster Owner

Recommended Posts

Hello:

I've just got my first Boxster! :clapping:

Lapis Blue with Sea Blue int. and Blue top.

PCM2.1 with BOSE.

I'm going to put in an Ipod adaptor this weekend.

I would like to change to Xeon's and add auto dimming rear view mirror.

Can this be done without losing an arm and a leg?

Thanks

Congrats on the new car. Triple-blue must look sweet ..

Where are you getting your iPod adapter? I know there was a group buy floating around on some of the boards (including this one) for a Dension made one but the promise date seems to keep slipping ...

I got the Nav-TV adaptor.

It takes the place of the optional 6 disc cd player in the front.

The nice thing about the unit is that I can control the Ipod through the radio.

I can leave the Ipod in the front or I can fish the wire through the firewall and place it the glove box.

There is a little lag when trying to scroll through hundreds of song titles.

But the sound quality is as good as the MP3 quality.

I would still like to add the auto-dimming mirrors.

any-body any-body.

Just ordered my boxster S for delivery in March 07 (I think i spent too much, but i will have fun!)

I didnt order the rear view auto dimming mirror, i wanted to change the order, but i was too late, the order was locked in.. Does anyone know if the auto dimming mirrors can be fitted later?

The auto dimming feature applies to all 3 rear view mirrors, you would have to check with the dealer, but I would guess that all of the wiring should be there, the worst would be the cost of the peices (usually more then the option as an order) and if there is any re-programing to the OBC (not likely).

I have it on my 987 and think that it is a great option, it was packaged with the rain sensor, also a neat feature.

I recall another forum member being in the same predicament and ordered all the parts neccessary to undertake the job. Thing is, he dropped the project when he realised how much he needed to take apart/install to get the job done.

Try a search on the topic and you should turn up the thread with pics.

Regards

Popolou
