We have a severe coolant loss from a source above the bellhousing, but can't see it. Is it necessary to take off the intake manifold to view back there? Has anyone had a similar occurance, and what was the cause? OK ,I just found out the intake manifold will have to come off, and the local Porsche dealer wants to change a bunch of coolant hoses and vent hoses. Any idea how many hours this job pays?

There are two sets of coolant hoses running under the intake. The upper set you can replace by taking off the intake manifold. For the other large plastic hose under the upper 3, you must remove the engine. For the lower hose, I would expect about 20 hrs or more including the engine r&r.

Frank, can you tell me how this was resolved and what it ended up costing you? I have a 2004 Turbo which has the same problem. I's in an independent shop here in Phoenix. I'm planning to call the dealer tomorrow morning and see if there is a TSB on this and see if they'll help me out on the repair expense since I'm outside of warranty coverage. Thanks.
