Stock audio system speakers

Recommended Posts

hey all,

I have a Cabrio and wonder, are there any different between the dash and the back speakers?

if there are, then what?

by Porsche Center in Germany you could upgrade the back speakers for around 522 euro, and the question is what do you get :cursing:

cause that are a lots of *ching*ching*!

cheers,

Tony

My rear speakers are broke. So are my dash speakers. In fact so are my door speakers. I think this is the way they all came from the factory, so bad they you can't tell if they are blown or just junk. I did buy my Porsche used in a private sale, so it is possible that they have been overused, but I doubt it. Before summer, I am going to have the door speakers replaced.

Of course, I didnt buy a Porsche for its stereo!

hey P.Viby,

they are working but in general I don't find them that great though!

the problem is, I got the sound package and those base speakers in the doors are to flat, but could also be that the amp is not powerful enough to drive all the speakers.

so a replacement of the dash and the back speakers to 2ohm sets will probably do the poor amp a favour.

and imagine that Porsche wants more than 2000,- euro for a sound upgrade with additional 2x160W amp and a different speaker sets, but hey for 2G:s, you could get a complete High-End system from Profis!

well again, that's my opinion though.

cheers,

Tony

my local Porsche centre quoted me just £35 ($65) each for the rear speakers for my cab.

Fronts are a 4" and tweet the rears are just 4". I am going to make my own grills up for the rear and fit 5" as for the dash top, im not sure what the mounting depth is so will have to investigate further.

Anyone done a bass box for the cab?

You might want to consider the HPAS sound system retrofit kit Porsche sells. You get a better amp and new speakers. It was popular when it first came out but it seems like no one rembers it.

It has all the parts for a Boxster. On a 996 you have to buy as an extra the rear speakers. You do have to cut your door panels. The other parts drop in.
