Custom Exhaust

Recommended Posts

If you go after market be willing to accept some vibration or resonance. They sound better and do make more power but I could not live with the drawbacks. Probably because I’m picky. I tried AWE and then switched to the new Porsche Sport Exhaust due to a slight vibration around 2000rpm when downshifting or stopping. Other exhausts to consider are Milltek, Tubi and Fabspeed.

For exhaust tips keep an eye on ebay. I picked up the optional Boxster chrome exhaust for a great price. Also check out Booth Designs for chroming options on your stock tip.

I plan on doing a custom exhaust here shortly. One thing that would help in my journey would be a diagram or picture of the stock 987 exhaust showing the flow of air through the system. Does anyone have one avail?

I plan on taking the stock exhaust(spare) and cutting it open and removing the CATS and some baffling if any to get the more throaty sound that all Porsches should have and I am not worring about more power.

Has anyone installed a custom exhaust in their 987? I'm thinking about putting in an exhaust, but want to see if I can put something together rather than buying it...Suggestions? How about the exhaust tips, anyone know the diameter of the inlet pipe?

Hi I haven't as yet, but after alot of extensive research and I plan on installing the Fabspeed headers with cats and mufflers. I was looking for more horse power a a better sound but not to intense.I also plan an using the EVO V-Flow intake to round it off. I am not sure if this would be wright for you but From what I have read and talk with other boxster owners this is the way for me. Hope that helps
