I'm a new Porschephile who got here by way of DIY supercharged Chevys. I've always tuned my own cars, first with the old, fairly crude LT1-Edit and Tunercat, and more recently with HP-Tuners. I guess there is no end-user tuning software (yet!), but at least I can use Durametric to see what my ECU is hearing and saying.

But the tool is frustrating in many ways, so I'm looking for help. For example:

- Some of the logged parameters are still in German, what are they?

- Why is there actual lambda for bank 1, but not bank 2?

- Why can't the app start without being connected to the ECU?

- How can I save a logging configuration so I don't have to recreate it daily?

- How can I convert its huge text file of gibberish to something useful?

Have any of you found an info source, or user's forum? I'll call Durametric with my specific questions tomorrow, but it sure would be nice to find something like this:

How disappointing. Durametric support replied promptly, but:

- they can't provide any insight into the German language parameters

- they can't say why there's no lambda for bank 2, they only mimic the Porsche tool

- they offer the multiple-ECU reason for not starting the app prior to connecting, but it's a moot point because:

- there apparently is no way to save a log setup for future use, and

- there's no way to recover useful data from the *.txt log file.

I like the car, but I'm hating the general lack of DIY car crafter spirit among the owners and vendors. This site is a refreshing oasis, but it feels like there is but a handful of guys who can contribute tech knowledge.

I sure do miss HP Tuners.
