Optima battery

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a new 987S and was thinking about replacing the batter with a Optima 34R. I already have the battery (~ 2 yrs old from a 350Z). Although my Porsche battery is still new, I had a bad experience a few yrs back with tyoical batteries, so I'm just trying to be careful. Anyone have any experience with this type swop on a 987?

Thanks

I put an Optima 34R in my 2001 Boxster when I needed a new battery and it works great. When it's time to replace the battery on our 997, after it's out of warranty, I'll probably go for an Optima as well.

Why would you want to replace a battery on a car still under warranty? If you have a "bad experience" with your Porsche battery when it's still under warranty, like it dies, why wouldn't you let the dealer pay for a new one?

My bad experience was in a different vehicle when battery acid sprayed all over the engine coimpartment. Being I already have a 34R I've been thinking about this? I may just leave the original one in for now.

Thanks
