Purchase Cayenne S vs Cayenne Turbo

Recommended Posts

I am looking to purchase a Cayenne S 2006 with miles less then 20k. Would this be a better purchase then a 2004 Cayenne Turbo with about 40k miles?

Any suggestions on either one and what are the most recomended opitions that you would want.

Thanks

We recently agonized over the same thing. My best advise is, drive both and weigh the older turbo's power and options against the relative "newness" and warranty of the S. It's a balancing act that—for us— was so personal and has so many variables that ultimately, no one could really help. We just dived in and have never looked back.

good luck.

Which one did you get??

I just went through this and went with the older turbo (04) - the power and the air suspension was a big factor for me not to mention the fact that once you add all the options the turbo has to the S you have a pretty expensive S. I would definitely make sure it had at least a few months of warranty - I recently had a lot of items repaired under my remaining warranty and you can get a much better deal on an extended warranty from the dealer unless of course you are talking CPO.

I've seen many people advise against the purchase of a 2003 or 2004 Cayenne, suggesting a 2005 or later. I own a 2004 Cayenne S, and I have had absolutely zero problems with it. It has roughly 28,000 miles on the odometer, and it has been flawless. My S has a considerable number of options, including PASM and 20" Sport Techno wheels. I've also got the factory sports exhaust. Honestly, the 340 HP V8 provides plenty of power for this vehicle. I love it.

If I were in your situation, I'd look at more than just Turbo vs. S. I'd take all the other options into consideration, color, suspension, etc. Also, you'll want CPO or an extended warranty, especially on a 2004 if you go that way. I'd check the service records too and see what has already been done. If the turbo is a "good one" with a good history, and it has the options you want and an extended warranty, it may be a wonderful choice!

I agree with previous posts, you can't go wrong either way. Good luck!

I would not consider the Cayenne S if it does not have air suspension like the Cayenne Turbo. The suspension on the Turbo is that good. Personally, I'd go for the Turbo, but that is me - I like lots of power.

For what it's worth, I average 13 MPG with my Turbo - mostly street driving. When I drive on the highway for extended distances, I average just under 17 MPG.

As others have said, look at the details when you are comparing a S vs. Turbo.
