Replaceing Side Airbag

Recommended Posts

Just my luck; I ran over some road debris on the I10. Again! :cursing: I’m don’t know what it was but it was like I ran over a ramp and both tire on the right side left the pavement and when it touched down the passenger side side airbag deployed.

I couldn’t find any other damaged. I guess I’m lucky in that respect.

Anyone know how much this part cost and if this a DIY project?

That is pretty good jolt - I would get the car up on a lift and look for more underside damage.

"After triggering of the airbag unit on the passengers side (parts that must be replaced):

- Airbag unit, passenger's side

- Triggering unit after the third time the airbag is triggered"

Remember that is also likely recorded in the DME - so you might want to document the "accident".

Loren,

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes it was a quite a jolt. I jack up the car and inspected it as best I could. The only visible damage was to the under body cover, a small piece in front of the rear tire broke off.

Do you have any instruction on replacing it or is this something best left to professionals? Any special tools needed?

Thanks again. :renntech:
