996 seat wiring information needed!

Recommended Posts

I've been asked to fit a 996 Turbo Memory Seat into a 'standard' 996 - the memory function doesn't need to work (phew!), the guy just wants the extra seat functions. He bought the seats off Evilbay - so I wasn't able to see the car they came out of. Does anyone know which 'socket' to connect power to, and the polarity of the pins? The only wiring diagram I have lists 'M538 CU Memory Right' but I don't think it's the right diagram for this seat. Attached picture shows the control unit with the sockets numbered 1-10 left to right. Socket 6 is labelled 'SPANNUNGS-VERSORGUNG' which translates as 'Tension Supply' so I'm guessing this is the power connector. Part number of the CU is 993.618.537.03. I've posted this on Rennlist and been pointed here by Riad

What year car are you putting them in. I can send you a wiring diagram, PM me with your email. However, if the car did not have power seats you may have a problem. Each wiring harness is made specific to the options in the car, so if it did not have power seats the wiring may not be there to provide power/contrals, etc. I know that when I added seat heaters (OEM) to my 2000 Cab I had to add wiring to accomodate the relays, switches, etc,, You may need the fusebox diagrams also, which I can send you.

How did you go sten?

I am having issues getting power to the driver's seat control module. DO you know if these ca be repaired?

Can i simply run another power cable from the fuse box to the control module?

I can't find a diagram either. I think it may be part of the passenger wiring harness which is like 10K!

All other control units are working so maybe its the power connector in the seat. Are these able to be purchased?
