Backup lights

I have taken my 1999 C4 to the dealer for "backup lights not working" at least 4 times now. I'm told the position of the switch that detects my transmission is in reverse requires adjusting.

My question is where is the switch located and how can I adjust and lock (locktite) it down so they will work without paying the dealer an hour every couple of months? My transmission is a 6 speed manual.

Mine does the same thing.?????????? Where is the switch --- should be on or near the trans.
