Does anyone else have a early build 2005 997 with PCM 2.1 (not 2.1A or 2.1B) that they want to upgrade to get a newer DVD for the Nav and also get Sat. radio retrofit :renntech: . I am having trouble getting info and direction. Do you think Porsche may come out with an all inclusive solution (ie. change out the PCM module) for 2008 which we could swap in? :renntech:

I had a problem with my auto pilot sound (music getting louder as you drive faster) so the dealer replaced the whole pcm unit, but the new unit seems to still be ver. 2.1. the service guy thot they would put in ver 2.2. but to answer your question, i dun think there's a quick solution. it not just firmware.

I have the SOS button, but i still play mp3s on the single disk reader. i thot the updated units (ie. 2006 and newer model) have the capabilities to play mp3s?

i have a 2005 c2.

Does your new unit have the SOS buttom. If so then you got an updated unit. Has no one else tried to upgrade the PCM from 2.1 to 2.1A or 2.1B to get an updated DVD nav, disk to work?

I've got an early build (#337) MY2005.

It has the non 'SOS' and no MP3 PCM. Since I don't need the cell phone interface and I have the Dension IPOD GW500 I see no need to upgrade.

Unless your PCM 'breaks' and your under warranty there is no reasonable ($$$$) way to upgrade to the later version.
