New owner with NAV issues / questions

Recommended Posts

I'm a new owner of a '02 TT with factory NAV. Also new to this site, so I'll apologize if I'm posting incorrectly...

From searching and reading, I'm confident this is a PCM I (it requires 7 CDs for the entire US) and is a MOST type setup.

I have a (maybe) unique problem. The rotate / push button on the right side of the of the unit works sporadically. When rotated to scroll through the functions, it jumps around. It is virtually impossible to correctly select the selected menu items making the NAV funtions unusable. The push (select) function works OK. This occurs in all modes - including audio menus.

Has anyone else seen this?

Can this switch / control knob be replaced without buying a new unit?

I'm not really interested in going to a better aftermarket unit as yet. For now I want to keep it factory.

One more thing - is there instructions somewhere here on how remove dash surround (Horseshoe) piece?

Any help / advice would be appreciated.

MY01 and 02 TT are PCM1 but it is not a MOST system. MOST was introduced in MY03 (along with PCM2).

Porsche does not sell individual parts for the PCM systems - your best luck might be a wrecking yard or someone that has removed their PCM 1.

The removal of the horseshoe component is the same for Boxster, Carrera, and GT2/GT3 and TT. It has been covered many times here.
