Trouble Fitting new Brake Light Switch

Recommended Posts

I had the ABS and PSM Off lights stay on. Checked and the brake lights were out so I've got a new brake light switch but am having trouble fitting it.

My car is a 2001 pre-facelift C4 Manual, no cruise control.

The part I removed has codes 996.613.111.01/996.613.113.01/996.613.114.01

The OPC have provided 996.613.111.01/996.613.113.02/996.613.114.01 which I'm told has superceded the old one.

The old one fits easily onto the hole and turns 90 degrees, the new one fits into the hole but doesn't seem to go in all the way and will not turn.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so any tips anyone?

Have I been sold the wrong part perhaps?

Thanks. Mike

The fittings are all the same, bring the switch in the good position with a little bit of grease to the contact area and turn 90 degrees ( to the left or to the right it's the same ). The switch body color most by the same, brown for the brake pedal and red for the clutch pedal.
