Dim Instrument Panel Backlighting

The original orange colored instrument backlighting in my 2003S seems pretty dim even when turned full bright. Doesn't appear to be a burned out bulb, as the lighting is even across the cluster. I haven't been able to locate a hack that identifies a specific fix for this issue, although changing the color might be a solution. If any of you have any "bright" ideas, input would be appreciated.

Have your cluster light sensor tested - it may be going bad.

If It has gotten worse, you could have dirty contacts. Fast fix, slide wire end plugs on and of there male counterpart, do it with the fuse to. If you want to go beyond what is apparently normal, you could find some higher wattage bulbs.

I'm not quite sure that I understand what the attachments you included mean? Where is the sensor located and is it easier to replace it than test it?

The are test results using a PST2. A PIWIS can do the same test.

You just get a shop to plug it in and then cover and shine a light at the cluster. The percent change should be as shown above. If it does not change then you have a bad sensor.

2003 cluster has LEDs, not bulbs.
