Anybody Diy The Clear Bra?

Recommended Posts

Can't seem to find an installer here in Vegas and absolutely HAVE to get the clear bra installed. The construction here has destroyed my brand new aero spoiler :censored:

Now I need to get it repainted and then I WILL have to have the clear bra put on. I have been calling around to no avail. Can't seem to find anybody that installs it.

Has anybody done the install DIY??? It seems pretty straightforward but then again I am not a professional and do not want this to look just thrown on.

Advice/Comments?

If you know the brand you want, you can sometimes find installers on their web pages. For example, X-Pel shows

X-Pel of Nevada

10127 West Charleston

Suite "B"

Las Vegas, NV 89135

702-320-2068

I think many of them are using the same material from 3M, they just cut it and install it.

I don't think it's a DIY job unless you were a window tint installer in a previous life. When I had the Invinca-Shield brand installed on my Boxster S it was almost a 4 hour job and the guy doing it was a trainer for Invinca-Shield. I've already contacted him to install the film on my GT3 before it leaves the dealer's lot.

On a side note...does anyone know if these products can be installed on cars that have minor paint chip damage from normal driving? I would imagine having a flawless surface is ideal, but is it recommended to avoid installing on anything less than a new or repainted surfaces? I guess I'm concerned that the material will highlight the chips & not bond well. Or is is all in the preparation?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I would like to know as well. THe guy at the body shop told me that I had no reason to coat the hood since it had chips but the GT3 bumper was fine since it was freshly painted.

As well, I would like to know if that is the case. should I touch up the hood an have it coated? Should it been painted? Leave it alone?
