Bumperette Painting

Recommended Posts

hey all

thought i'd share how i diy'd my bumperettes...didnt see paying 300bucks so tried it yesterday

pics will show how...few pointers

-proper sanding starting with 40,80,120,200,600 and 1000

-with 600 and 1000 grain paper, use water layer over bumperette and rinse off each sanding

-wipe nozzle after each coat to give finer spray

-cover everything else in the garage

-sweeping movements accross each bumperette to coat

-take your time with allowing the coats to dry or you'll get layers....always tempted to put on thick coat but dont do it or it'll run

-heat lamp to dry

have fun

I had the body shop who did my bumper and side skirts spray my bumperettes with the original Porsche paint that they used for the other pieces and then clear coat them and bake them. They are identical in color and shine to the rest of the car. :)

got the paint at local paint shop...got the name from the service guys at porsche

two coats of adhesion needed

one to lightly coat...then wet layer to dry in 15 right when paint goes on

the place i bought it from was colorama in lisle illinois....i already asked if they could ship to others.....but itd be a combustable/hazard so tooo expensive

the guys said if you bring the color number on the can ...you can have it made up anywhere.....acrylic based paint for the guards red....for others call local porsche guys or find it here tsb?

good luck..watch for pix of the intake manifold....should turn out nice
