Rear taillight question

Recommended Posts

99 996 C2

I have a rear taillight out and I replaced the bulb but it still doesn't work. It's the bulb that lights the largest red area (passenger side) when the headlights are on.

Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this problem?

The car has never had any electrical problems.

Thanks!

Phillipj

With my 99 C2 I found that the headlight plugs were loose. This affected all the lights in strange ways. You can check this by removing the headlights then reaching into the fender. See if the plug is loose in it's holder. There should be a sliding clip that keeps it in place. On mine this clip was not engaged.

The only other easy item is maybe a faulty ign. switch. But since it is just that one light then probably not.

Thanks Flyer,

I know it's not an ignition switch because I replaced that last year. It does seem strange that just one of the lights in the tail section pod is out. All the other lights work fine. I took a stock picture of a GT3 and circled which light is not working.

This kind of stuff really bugs me!

Thanks for your input

Phillip

Loren,

Really? That is strange. There is a bulb on my right side and it appears to be wired. Thanks for the information. I looked in my manual and there was no mention of the fog lights only working on the drivers side on the U.S. cars.

Would have been nice for them to mention that lol!

Thanks again

Phillipj
