litronic wire to headlight

Recommended Posts

Hi All

I was replasing my right front parking light. I took out the headlight as per the manual. It said for litronic lights remove the wire before pulling out the headlight. I have no such wire I see two plugs for wires on the headlight but only one wire. After a lot of searching I replaced the bulb and put the head light in. All lights are working and the parking bulb was H6W.

Can any body tell me why I have the socket on the headlight and no wire and all lights work.

On another note I would like to thank Loren for his DIYs I just replased all my rotors and brakes . I got my parts from IRA porsche in Danvers Ma they give a good discount to PCA members so I went with porsche parts rather than after market.

Thanks

Christopher

Guess the prior owner put in litronic headlights and did not install the control unit. There are two 4 wire connectors that go from the control unit to the back of each headlight.

When the early 996 get the non factory upgrade, wiring is required to a contral unit so when switching to high beam the beam actually raises. No control unit you get the litronic use, but your high beams are not in sync with the running beam.
