Clam Shell not opening correctly.

Recommended Posts

Recently I bought a replacement top for my and decided to try to replace the top myself.

The car has been setting for 3 months in the garage, so i went out and backed it out into the sun to start the fun...

Well when i hit the button to open the top I noticed that the clam shell is not opening on the pass. side of the car. The drivers side is coming up fine. I pulled off the little plastic cover that hides the bars that ( by the looks of it ) opens the clam shell and the must also move the top as well. I cant see anything stuck, but I do not hear any gear/motor noise from that side when i hit the button.

Is there something i can check or is this a "straight to the dealer" problem?

Since your car is a 2001, you probably have the updated cables. So, keep that in mind when you review the posts in the TOP Section.

Be careful not to keep the switch depressed for too long, or you run the risk of creasing the clamshell.

Regards, Maurice.
