HELP! Can someone explain this....

Recommended Posts

This morning I started up my 996 C2 idle was rough and engine died. Cranked up again, rough idle and engine died. CEL came on. I used ODBII reader and got code 1518 (Throttle Jacking Unit, Control Range - Below Limit). Please, explain this terminology and what's wrong with my throttle.

Thanks!

had to look this up, throttle jacking new one on me

diag conditions:

driving with changing pedal positions

possible fault cause:

open circuit

short circuit to B+

affected terminals:

1/7 and 1/9

so with a break our box check voltage at the pins, if not repair wiring

Found the problem with code P1518. Fixed and now run like a dream!

Loose connector?

Loren, it is the throttle actuator/servo attached to the right of the throttle body (egas) was dirty. I took the unit off and clean the internal parts with electrical cleaner.
