CDR-220 Radio/CD security code

Recommended Posts

I just purchaseda used 1999 Boxster which has a CDR-220 radio and CD player. The radio supports a security code that prevents the unit from functioning if power is removed (battery disconnected). Unfortunately, I did not received that security code with the car, and I do not know who the previous owner was. Is there a way to re-enable the radio without this security code after the battery has been disconnected?

ps. The car has 4 slots in the dash which hold CDs. I had assumed they where for a CD-changer, but it appears that they are for CD storage only. Am I correct in this?

You will need either your cars VIN or the radio serial number to get the code from a dealer or Becker. Both require some for of ID so they know you are the rightful owner. If your dealer knows you well they might do it over the phone - otherwise you will have to go to a dealer with proof of ownership.
