New Engine from Auto Farm

Recommended Posts

Well guys its been a while since my last (Confession & Post)

To keep you's up to date on my 996, after nearly 6 months in the garage & (fighting with the garage)

we have both come to the concluetion that it's the only option, yep it needs a new motor

Was in touch with Auto Farm UK (nice guys) and they have a reconditioned engine

ready & waiting for shipment to Dublin. (in part exchange for my old engine)

But before it's shipped... I have a few Questions? to ask all you guys (this site never fails in helping me) :D

So thank you all in advance to everyone who takes time out to help answer my Q's. Cheers guy's

1. How long does it take to install a 996 engine? Because Q,2

2. I'm planning a Euro Road Trip in July nearly 6000 miles!

(is it a bad idea to go in a 911 witch just got a new engine installed,

I wont be able to change the oil in the first 1000 miles or at all)

3. The garage say it's up to me if I want them to reset the clock on the car to 00000 miles? because

it is in effect a new engine? (the old has around 64,000 miles) not to sure if it's right to do this?

But Auto Farm will be stamping the Log book to say this & it will have a different engine number?

And thats it, for the moment, will keep you's all posted.

Thanks again for your reply's

1. According to Porsche's book time it should take 7 hours.

2. You will need to break the engine in just like a new engine.

3. I don't know about where you live - but in the US you can not change the odometer unless you file paperwork with your local government as to the true mileage on the car. Unless you never sell the car.

Hi James

Glad to hear you seem to have found a problem to your issues. Just out of interest, how much is the new Autofarm engine and who are you getting to do the install? I'm Dublin based and my 996 has just come out of warranty so have been wondering whether I will continue getting it serviced at Belgard or move to an independent (and would be curoious to know how much an autofarm engine is in case things go tragically wrong for me down the track!). I used to use Barry Whelan for my 944 but have used Belgards for the 996 so far as it has been in warranty.

Hope it works out well for you anyway.

Cheers

Greg
