Going up to 19" wheels on C4S?

I am thinking about going up to 19" wheels on my 2002 C4S Coupe because I like the look of the car with 19" rims. Currently, I'm running the stock 18" Turbo Twists with Pirelli P-Zeros (which I plan to change either way) and stock suspension. For those of you who have done it, what do you think in retrospect? How much was your ride and handling effected? I don't track my car, but I do like to play on twisty roads. Was it worth the $5000 - $6000 cost to do?

I think that the stock 996 w/ 18" rims is at the limit of expansion joint/broken pavement pounding abuse acceptance on many CA freeways. I would not put 19s on a 996 or non-PASM 997.

I agree... ride with 18 inch wheels (and at least Pirelli P-Zeros) is punishing enough on the bad roads we have in the US. Any input from someone reading this forum on the most "comfortable tire" available for 18 in wheels (ie best ride on bumps, pavement joints, etc) ??
