Unusual Noises

Recommended Posts

I have a '01 Boxster with 62,000 miles. I let a friend take it for a drive and when he came back he said it was making a "poping" noise. I took the car out and it sounds like its missing or almost a small backfire noise coming from the rear passenger side. It only does it when the car is under load and when downshiffting at higher RPMs I have recently changed the plugs and AOS. I looked under the car and tigtned everything up on the exhaust system and still noise. I even ran a bottle of Redline fuel sysem cleaner through the tank. I have no CEL and no codes on the reader. The car still seems to have lots of power.

Today I now noticed a whine almost like a vacume leak on the same side of the car at exactly 2100 RPM in any gear. checked everything out and even pulled the throttle body and cleaned. Ive also cleaned the MAF. Any ideas?

My wife says it sound like her old '86 Fiero she used to have.....Ive put the car in the garage and have not talked to her since....

How did the plugs look? That is a big component on

how your engine is running. You need to look at

all six plugs.

Paul

Old plugs looked fine when I removed them. I also checked the new plugs again and re tightened, still look brand new.
