997 Carrera Facelif & life cycle?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I own 2007 997 C4s Carrera, and lately I have seen the new facelift that Porsche have done to the 911 Carrera In which I feel a bit sad, coz they have made some nice changes and especially for the C4S in which you can easily tell the difference. I even thought of trading in my car with the new Facelift 2009! but I would like to know how long this facelift 2009 will stay and when the new 998 will come out?

Please give me your suggestion and thought in that issue... appreciate your feedback & comments

Under normal conditions 2012/2013 as usual. The 997/2 generation is more than a face lift, complete new designed engine without intermediate shaft ( good news for the owners - bad news for the forums ), crankshaft bearings placed more at both ends ( makes the shaft stiffer and discharge the RMS ) redesigned timing chain, direct fuel injection and a lot more. Also a new double clutch gearbox which replace the Tiptronic. The car drives really fantastic.

Whoa....no intermediate shaft? Unless they've replaced that problem with another yet undiscovered and equally debilitating one, it looks like redemption is at hand!

I haven't read much about the update, which usually focuses more on the PDK gearbox and the direct injection. Just from what I could quickly find, if it's got 40% less parts than the older engines, then hopefully that means better reliability.

Also looks like if the engine is almost totally new, then perhaps the engineers thought that the ongoing problems could not be fixed by simply modifying the existing design. Perhaps this also means good-bye to RMS problems.
