red Brake Calipers part#

Hmm...

(from the RoW parts list)

996.351.429.10 and 996.351.430.10 are the front calipers for the GT3 mk1. I think you will need new wheel hubs to fit those.

996.352.425.60 and 996.352.426.60 are the rear GT3 mk1 parts.

The Boxster S parts fit perfectly and are the exact same size as the standard Carrera brakes - just red.

I have another question regarding this topic.

have been reading the GT3 mk1 is using 330mm disc all-around and so do Turbo&C4S.

then are the brake system the same on GT3 mk1 as the Turbo&C4S?

Yes the GT3 mk1 (steel) brake calipers are the same as TT/C4S (steel). The wheel hubs are different though.

Loren,

What are the part numbers for the BoxsterS red brakes. I think I am going to order them for my 996. They are a direct fit correct? All I need to order is the 2 front and 2 rear calipers correct???

Thanks again for all your help!

Dell

You are just changing out the calipers - nothing else. So, if your old sensors and pads are okay then just transfer them. You will need a good pressure brake bleeder (like the Motive) and about 1 liter of brake fluid.

Porsche recommends new caliper bolts - but I don't know many folks that do that.

hey Loren,

are the GT3 rear Calipers (996.352.425.xx and 996.352.426.xx)

the same as the BoxsterS (996.351.425.xx and 996.351.426.xx)?

(due to they are using the same Pads!)

cheers,

//T

No the Boxster S rear calipers are:

996 352 421 xx

996 352 422 xx

The pads are different too (similar but different).

Loren,

sorry my misstake, didn't made it quite clear!

I compared the TT/C4S (GT3 mk1) rear against the BoxsterS front, BoxsterS and C4S are using the same brake pads 996.352.949.02.

the only thing different I see between these Calipers are the number for front (351) and rear (352), and all Calipers BoxsterS (front) and TT/C4S/GT3 mk1 mounting position is 13cm.

and another thing why then is it possible to mount a 330mm disc for TT/C4S/GT3 mk1 on the rear with the same brake pads and using similare Caliper but only uses 318mm for the C2/C4 up front?

cheers,

Tony

The front brake pad area for Boxster S (and Carrera 2/4) is 254 cm - the GT3 (mk1) rear brake pad area is 254 cm. So the pads are still making the same surface contact even with the larger rotor disc. I would guess the larger rear disk on the GT3 provides better cooling and support the GT3 (Porsche MotorSport) sport pads (sorry don't know the specs on the sport pads 996 352 930 91).
