Cayenne S (Sept 2003) PCM System Error

Recommended Posts

Hi All - I'm new to these forums, wonder if someone could help with some advice on this issue... which is driving me spare!

I lost all sound on my Bose system - with the message: System Error: Amplifier, Phone, CD Changer not available. The SatVav/Map works, albeit with no sound... although my dealer feigns ignorance of this as a known issue, I rather suspect it well could be.

I've checked fuses and all seem well. Any help appreciated.

Many thanks,

Frustrated, of Kent :-)

PS: System details - PCM, 6 CD changer, single CD, surround sound with subwoofer..

Pretty sure that the fiber (orange) connection is broken.

Have you taken anything apart ?

The BOSE amp is in the back drivers side (above the CDC and runs up to the PCM. I have heard this before quite a few times for that MY and others. Sometimes to tight a bend on the fiber can give out. Dealer job if you dont know of anything that could have disturbed it.

Mike

:welcome:

Your dealer needs to brush up on his service bulletins.

If you go to our TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) page for the Cayenne (here) and do a search for PCM it will come back with 20 TSBs for PCM systems. Updates, installs, and of course fixes for problems. Our Contributing Members here can read these TSBs here online.

Your dealer should put their PIWIS tester on the car and check for PCM/MOST fault codes. They can test and diagnose the system with the tester too.

Many thank Loren - (& Mike) - appreciate your speedy response.

I'll be straight to Porsche on Monday! :-)

Cheers!
