I just picked up my 05 CTT. I am new to the cayenne forum and also new to the PCM2 system. The car has the factory PCM2 and Nav unit. The PO had a aftermarket dvd unit in the backseat. They removed the dvd prior to selling. Long story however I do not have the PO contact info and I cannot get it. My problem is that when I try to use the nav unit, it says "system error: navi,cd changer, phone not available" (or something similar to this. I have the nav data cd however it doesn't help unless the pcm detects the nav unit.

Anybody know what the problem could be? Could it have something to do with the dvd removal? I have no idea how the PCM2 system hooks up. As I mentioned, I am very new to this.

Part of the reason why I am posting instead of taking it to my local dealer is that I just picked up the car 1000 miles from my home and I am driving it back today and tomorrow- it would be nice to have the nav unit on the trip, also I am one of those guys who hates giving the dealer any money.

Thanks,

Steve

The systems you mention have a common connection. the fiber optic ring (MOST). It could be that the previous owner had hooked it up to the system but not removed it properly

Does your radio work ? if so that proves the connection between the head unit and the Bose amp in the back

Now I am very confused. I am now home from my return trip which means that I can now take apart the car to figure out what is wrong with the nav unit. Here is what I found. I am now very confused.

I mispoke in my first post that said that my model year was 2005, it is actually 2004. The car has a pcm2 with bose amp- no cd changer. When I removed the dvd nav module from under the passenger seat, the model number of the unit started with 997. I thought that was strange because I thought that would indicate that it was a newer module. So now I am wondering if it had nav stock or if someone put it in afterwards. I have tried to look up the codes on however I am an not very good at figuring out how to read the codes (the ones on the sticker that has the vin number). Also, when I removed the PCM unit, there are two large spaces at the bottom of the unit that looks like something plugs into. Is it possible that I am missing the part that plugs into these ports? Can somebody help guide me?

The 997 designation is ok as the unit is common between 955 and 997.

Also the spaces you see are ok for an 04 PCM2

All you need to make sure of is that the 2 orange cables in their plug are in right, they are fibre however if you have sound they are ok. The nav module is on CAN I think. you need a PIWIS read

Thank you for the info. I found some wiring issues that may be my problem. What is CAN? Is that one of the plugs?
