System error: CD changer not available

Recommended Posts

I recently had my battery replaced (whilst on the road in Italy) and since then the CD changer has stopped working and I get the following error message on the PCM display "System error: CD changer not available". It appears every time I start the engine.

My car is a 2004 (986), Boxster S 550 Anniversary.

I have got a Porsche CDC-4 changer.

The CD changer appears to be functioning, it has power and the cartridge still works (pops up and down etc), but I just can’t get as far as playing anything. The single CD slot inside the car continues to work as normal.

Any ideas? Please help!

Part of the MOST system specification requires that components added (or deleted) from the audio/entertainment network be programmed as such. Chances are you need to find someone with a PST2 or PIWIS to "turn on" the CD Changer option.

Not even a 5 minute job.
