How do you get the tips back on?

Just installed my new cargraphic exhaust. Sounds "the dog's danglies" as you guys in the UK say :) It reuses the stock tips and the last section of stock piping that the tips mount on to. I had the tips ceramic coated black. Tried to get them back on and they wouldn't go. Ended up scratching them up pretty bad with the rubber mallet and such. Anyway, had them powdercoated this time for a more durable finish. Heat shouldn't really be an issue with the tips anyway. What is the best way to get the tips back on. It is a really really snug fit. Don't know why porsche makes it so tight since they're bolted on anyway. Is there a trick to this? I already have the cans and the piping mounted so I can drive the car. I'd prefer to mount them with the exhaust still on the car. I've seen the dealer do it, so there must be a way.

Do you mean the single bolt that goes round the circular clasp to mount the tips onto the end of the manifold pipes?

If so, it's a real challenge. Not much room but it can be done using nothing more than a spanner.....er sorry....wrench. You need to get the back of the car up high on jacks to get to the bolts. Ensure the tips are not touching the bumper.

No, the set bolt isn't an issue. I literally can't get the tip to slide back on to the tail pipe. The fit is so tight it just won't go on. Is there a special tool or trick for getting these on? It's the same tip and tailpipe I was using before, so I can't figure out why it's such a tight fit, although I did have to yank on them a bit to pull them off. Trying to be as gentle as possible as they're powdercoated now and I don't want to scuff or scratch the tips.

Did they powdercoat the inside of the pipe that needs to slide over the tailpipe? It's a snug fit to begin with so that may be enough to cause your problem. Maybe take a dremel and grind out the coating in this area back down to the stainless. Good luck, what a pita!
