Hello guys,

I am considering upgrading the PCM1 system on my 2000 996 Cabrio. The Kenwood dnx7120 sounds really good as I like the Garmin GPS portable I currently have. It also has an iPod connection. My questions are:

• What system does the MY 2000 PCM have? 2 din?

• Has anyone installed the Kenwood dnx7120? Does it just pop right into the PCM slot? Any major issues?

Let me know,

Thanks,

Alex

I have the 7120 in my 4Runner and the Garmin unit is very EZ to use and the screen being so huge makes it better than the handhelds.

iPod connection is trouble-free as well. I'd never put a unit in my 911, though.

Quality of sound is a product of a system and the enviroment it is in. A head unit by itself will not yield much or any at all. In order to get most bang for the buck you need to do the entire system from amp to speakers. Besides the environment of a Porsche is not that conduscive to great sound quality.

there are a few posts on 6speed showing people who have done this... walk throughs and all.

it does look nice.

not sure of the difference, but I know there is a DNX8120 available. might as well get the latest, no?

yea just get the latest because it's not much more.

and the other guy is right. this is just one component for overall quality sound. for a truly clean install, improved sound, power, function... you need to dump at least $6K total into the system.
