Check Engine & PSM Lights On. Help Needed!

Recommended Posts

as the title said I have this issue with these lights coming on.

I have read about problems on the ignition(MY04) and considering to change the inginition coils with 03 or 05 codes and also the spark plugs.

I went to the dealer for the integration of the PCM - they somehow solve some problems, but after a few miles, the car started shaking at low RPM and sometimes stoped, I went again to the dealer here and they said that I have to change the coils. Ok, as I have stated before they are stuppid enough to make it worse, and thats because for about more than one year ago I have payed and they were supposed to change the faulty coills, dont know what they have done with that or maybe they have change it with bad ones again?

Right now, I want to use the car and got an OBD2 reader, that actually reads engine codes, so when the Engine light comes on also the PSM comes, the car starts to shake and sometimes stops. the OBD reads an error code on the THROTLE BODY, and doesnt say anything about faulty coils or plugs.

what I wanted to know, it is normal to have both lights PSM failure and Engine lights on? I've read that most of the peoples from here didnt get both warnings.

also are the following codes good:

94860210405 - for the coils

and

99917021890 - for plugs?

thanks a lot,

Ilie.

so, I have the results of tests:

Mode 03: Emission related fault codes

Address 10 (Engine): 4 Faults Found:

P2103 - Throttle Valve Actuator Module (J338): Motor Circuit: Signal High

P0638 - Throttle Body Actuator Bank 1 (J338): Implausible Signal

P2138 - Accelerator Position Sensors (G79) / (G185): Implausible Correlation

P2126 - Accelerator Position Sensor 2 (G185): Implausible Signal

what could cause this malfunction? and also what do you recommend me to do.

ps. I've bought the Durametric PRO KIT, its still in the Customs but in a few hours or maybe days I will be able to have it. Hope I'll be happy with it, cause the durametric doesnt run tests through MOST system, and as far as I know neither on the CAN system.

thanks Loren. Could you tell me which is the part number for throtle body complete? thanks.

It might be just a mass air flow sensor fault. I would try a throttle adaption first after clearing the codes and wait to see what codes return.

I had allready checked the mass and chaged it wit another one, cleared the codesand then the same. :( I would try to make a throttle adaptation, think that I can do that with durametric - dont know what it means though - maybe you can clear it for me a little. thanks.

Throttle Body - 997.605.115.01 -- US MSRP $290.87

(4th generation throttle body)

thanks Loren, I've contacted Suncoast Porsche today, and I'll try to get that fixed among the others.

another thing that really bothers me is the PSM failure.

really dont know how to thank you.

Ilie

So, the first issues are caused by a malfunction of the Throtle body. I will change that and also, ignition coils, spark plugs. but what about the second one, this is different though. I have started to read the TSB related with PSM failure. and what I've discovered is that there are chances to have a PSM failure caused by Electrical_Malfunctions_Due_To_Sticking_Brake_Light_Switch . Sticking Brake Light Switch?????? are you kiding me? whats next? maybe a failure of the engine management due to malfunction of the GPS antenna.

I've read also the part with the possible failures of PSM, and I need to get a PIWIS now? or at least a Cayenne repair manual.

btw. I becomed a full member. :) if that counts.

Fault code 1314

DME control module

Diagnostic conditions

- Internal KESSY control module function test

Possible cause of fault

- No signal/communication (no signal from DME control module on CAN drive)

- Implausible signal (from DME control module on CAN drive)

I think you will need a PIWIS to further diagnose this fault.

thanks a lot guys,

I have managed to repair and got a stable engine that hasnt runned this good for loooong time.

what I've done:

- have changed the spark plugs and the ignition coils ( as you all kniow the 94860210401 arent good at all - last year the dealer changed mine with the same that the car had been delivered) - on the tester, NO engine faults, BUT just 6 off them had MAJOR cracks and the other 2 visual aspect was good. ive installed the latest ones.

- one or two of the codes were refering at the throttle malfunction. My friend George, came and fixed that for me - he had opened and he has cleaned it so that right now NO more errors :) - though I had ordered(just in case) a new throttle body - btw I think the code that you gave me Loren is for a V6 engine(997.605.115.01), or maybe I didnt orederd what I need :), we will see...

- Isomehow I had all the problems in the world that you had mentioned here and every thought that was written here was right: Ignition coils, Throttle body (fixed and ordered a new unit) and the last thing like wvicary said: I have a problem with the MAS of the driver side. this one is bad, and even if I had tried to clean it a little it didnt work. the thing is that this one actually can mess up all the sistem, didnt knew that before. I unplugged it and it works on the one that also looks good, also on tester.

- as for the one that Loren said with the eror on keysi, its because I have a faulty handle on the driver side - I have a new unit to replace it for long time but didnt have the time to actually do it. what is strange is that the Durametric has an option to read errors on the keyssi sistem as far as I remember, but didnt show anything.

So, happy end. car runns good (better gas milleage imo) and those things deserved to be changed.

Ilie.
