Hi, Is 997 3.6 air intake the same as 997 3.8?

and how much is retail for these?

I believe they are identical save for the nameplate badge.

I bought a used one for $50 to "play" with. Have some ideas for modding it.

The airbox on the 997 is a bit different actually. There is a vacuum switchable flap that is opened depending on engine rpm. The flap opens and closes and resonance resevoir inside the airbox which affects the intake sound.

I have a 2008 997S airbox with the fabspeed "cold air kit" and BMC air filter. The air intake system had 2000 miles on it when I replaced it, so it is near new condition. The fabspeed cold air upgrade was $220 and the BMC filter was $120. (This does not include the OEM 911 S air box.) This unit will fit the 997 Carrera, but has the badging of the 3.8L S engine.

I have replaced my air box with the X-51 carbon fiber system. (Including the throttle body.)

The whole unit is sitting in my closet and I would be willing to sell it to you for a reasonable price.

If you are interested let me know.

Wayne,

How much did you pay for the carbon fiber X51 airbox & throttle body and where did you purchase it?

Thanks!

Phillip
