I have discovered a coolant leak today while doing my oil change. I have been smelling coolant over the past 2 weeks after driving as well. The level is fine, and the tank was replaced this past summer so it should be good. However I have attached a pic to show where the leak is flowing down. I can't seem to pin point the problem. but it seems to be coming from the bottom of the tank. I can't however see it directly as there is too much stuff in the way. What is at the bottom of these tanks. Also I found a lose hose with no connection hanging down...is this a overflow hose? Any troubleshooting tips would be great help. TIA

  • 2 weeks later...

What happened to me (periodically smelling coolant) was (in cold weather) the coolant level light came on, I check the tank, it was 1 1/2 liters low. Porsche said they were aware of the issue and that it only tends to happen in cold weather, and that there was no "fix", I was a little irritated since the vehicle was under 2 months old, Porsche changed the tank out, it has been better but still when cold there is the scent of and a little loss of coolant.

The issue is with the fittings between the tank and the pipes on the bottom of it, you may want then to switch the tank and fittings obviously under warranty

Some may view this as minor, but if the coolant dumped and the engine was damaged it would not have been a minor.

Sounds like a cracked tank to me, and yes I'm pretty sure that loose hose is a the overflow hose. I'm sure you have heard this before but you may have a hairline crack in your res. tank. Does it leak even when it's cold or only after or during a drive?

Porsche replaced the tank when they did the replacement, I still have a leak albeit much slower
