Paintable door handle trim pieces part nos.

Recommended Posts

I'd like to replace the red door handle trims (the oblong plastic piece thet surrounds the door handle and houses the window switches) on my RS 60 with new ones painted G.T. silver- an option offered by the factory. I've found out the hard way that the stock pieces are factory finished with a coating that does not take kindly to paint! I've been told that these pieces are available in a paintable primered version, but have had no luck in locating the part numbers. Can anyone help?

Thanks!

Thanks, Loren! It's part no. 23 in the drawing. What I've been told (by a Porsche body guy) is that Porsche offers these in a primed, unpainted version as service parts for any car that was delivered new with these parts painted body color -say, one of the orange Special Edition Boxsters- to be painted to match by the body shop that was doing the repairs.

For info be aware part 23 is fixed by 'heatable' plastic lugs and not screws or bolts, obviously the whole door panel needs to come off and it requires a specialist tool to 'heat and squash' the fixing lugs on the trim. These parts once removed are not refixable.
