I have a 2000 911 C4 Cabriolet and live an hour from the closest Porsce dealer. I am going to purchase a Hardtop and have it delivered to my house. I called the Porsche dealer and asked if I neded to make any modifications to my car so the hardtop would fit and they said inot all Porsches are ready for hardtops. He said I could make a diagnosis appoinment ($200.00) to let me know if my car had the right equiptment? Does anyone know what other equiptment I would need outside of the Allen wrench that came with the car?

Thank you,

Brian

I have a 99 C2 that came with a hardtop and from what I understand they are a pretty common (and often un-used) option. I don't think you have to do anything to install it. There seem to be lots of used ones out in the market. Just make sure you get the plastic cover that conceals the front latching mechanism. To me it sounds like the dealer just wants to do a little profit boosting.

Good luck ;)

:welcome:

Brian, Do you have the manual? I believe page 154 covers 'Hardtops'.

• Obviously you need 2 persons to install/remove it.

• The 2 round plastic covers in the back, where the hardtop goes and the plastic area around them are easily scratched so be careful pulling them out with the special tool.

You can download a PDF version of the 996 manual here:
