Bose subwoofer upgrade

Recommended Posts

I have a 2006 C4S with the Bose subwoofer but it's not enough. I'm thinking of disconnecting the sub and wiring the OEM amp + and - to a new aftermarket amp to the speaker level input. I would install 2 JL W610 in the back

Anybody tried it before?

I search the forum but can't find any info.

Thanks

two W6 tens in an enclosure in the back is going to weigh a lot! Probably 60-75 lbs total which will throw off your car's balance and slow it down. Have you considered just a good single 8? Here is an enclosure that houses an Image Dynamics 8" in a 0.22 cf enclosure and total weight including the subwoofer is only 15 lbs. It is powered with 300 watts off two channels of a single tiny JL 600 watt digital amp under the passenger seat. It hits very hard and tight, and will forcefully vibrate all the panels in the car if that's your thing. Cover with black Silverknit carpet and it blends in perfectly. Weight is placed forward and low for best handling, while the stock 43 lb battery was replaced with a 24 lb Westco AGM and a 1/2 farad capacitor, net weight gain being nil.
