3.2L to 3.8L conversion possible?

Recommended Posts

So I came across a guy in the sales section, who had a 2001 Boxster S and compared it against my 2000 Boxster S. He converted the engine to a 3.8L and I'm wondering if anyone has or knows if it's possible to do a swap / conversion to a 3.8L in the 00' S. It looks as though he purchased the crate engine new, and then swapped. What do these engines go for now-a-days and where to get? Curious if Sunset can get them, and what they'd charge. Curious if this is even possible? Said he had a 7.8 DME? Not sure of everything else that would need to be replaced to withstand an engine like this.

How about taking your 3.2 to a 3.8?? I am doing one of these big bore updated engines now.

Most dealers now require a 3.8 core when you buy a new crate 3.8, they aren't taking a 3.2 for a core... At least from what I had heard..

Use the search tool and search "engine swap" and you will get a plethora of information.

Suncoast Porsche will give you a partial (about 75%) core return on a 3.4 when buying a 3.6 or 3.8. Not sure about a 3.2. Give them a call..
