Car Covers - to protect from Tree sap

Recommended Posts

Thinking about getting a decent car cover to use outdoors on my Boxster S. We have a cottage, and I might take the car up there when we go for vacations. The driveway is heavily tree'd up there, and I'm a bit worried about tree sap hurting the paint on my 'new' car.

Any suggestions for a car cover? Not too expensive please, as I think I might only use it a dozen times / days per year.

Thanks,

Peter

Get one thats not expensive ..at all. trees drop shade to (do yours) if so, any special uv stuff is useless + cheap fabric doesn't degrade in the shade.

My driveway has a complete tree canopy that drools sap to. I've been using the same generic cheapo cover every day for the same reason only, for 8 years. Since it gets little sun, its held together. its nice of course to have a soft inside.

Regards, PK

How cheap is cheap? I bought one for $100 (CAD) years ago on EBay, and it hasn't let me down. It's not the fancy, socks-on-the mirors kind, but it has elastic around the bottom and stays on the car even with 60+kph wind.

Waterproof, breathable, soft and fuzzy inside. Getting it back inside the tiny bag it came in is a laugh, but I keep it in the bonnet just in case.

i recommend a cover-zone car cover. www.cover-zone.com - you might be able to find a local distributor up there - i found one in Texas, USA via Ebay. I have several models for various cars, and my favorite outdoor one is the Voyager model car cover. You can get one custom fit to the Boxster. Does a great job of protecting from sap, and other elements, and keeps the car cool. Cheaper than a factory cover or some other brands out there, but not as cheap as a universal fit one. They are super light weight and pack small too. Just make sure to never put it on your car if your car is dirty, i always prep with a california duster.

They are often offered in the classifieds on enthusiast's boards by people who have sold their car to moved to where they now have a garage.

Noah fabric by California Car Cover is what I'd recommend. Fits well, resists wind. soft on the pained finis via soft inside, breathes so moisture can exit the cover, but not enter. Survived many winters and ice/snow coverings for me and is still pristine. I parked my Boxster under one for months under a tree after the nuts had stopped falling.
