1999 Carrera PCM Addition

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

What are the components needed for the mpg and trip computer to work in the instrument panel?

I would like to display this data on my tachometer but I do not have the option. It looks like the instrument cluster is the same but I am missing the lever on the column. Besides the lever, is there an additional module?

Thanks,

D.

There are many threads concerning the OBC. Try "+OBC+installation". Amongthe threads are:

http://www.whiteson.org/boxster/mods/obc/obc.stalk.pdf

for the installation of the 4 stalk switch assembly; and

http://www.boxa.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=3209&st=60

page 3, post 73 for wiring information (for MY02+ Carreas); and

http://www.boxa.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=3209&st=60

for component part numbers.

Bill

EDIT: Oops, you have an MY99 Carerra.....sorry. If you search using the above search criteria, you'll find the wiring information for your pre-MY02 Carrera.

Thanks Bill, that is what I am looking for.

Now I have to decide if I want to do it the Porsche way or purchase a Bluetooth OBD II unit to use with my Kenwood... I guess it depends of the availability of parts. New four stalk units are probably quite expensive as well as dealer services.

Oops, just realized the fourth stalk is just a rocker switch...lol! This is actually a very inexpensive upgrade! I'll call Porsche today to get a quote on enabling the OBC.

Bill, I have to tell you thanks again. I didn't even know where to start searching on this one.

No service techs on Saturdays. Does anyone in Southern California have a PST2 tool on this forum? I would much rather pay a member if he or she is available.
