Why are there many part numbers for the same thing in PET?

Recommended Posts

Hi. For my 2000 C2, Tip, I'm looking to buy some coolant hoses. In PET, there are always, like, three or four different part numbers for the same hose. The only diff seems to be this "Model" in the right most column. It has weird numbers like M 398.

If you look under the "Remarks" column, you will find numbers such as "02-" or "99-01" or "-01". This pertains to the model year applicability, e.g., "02-" means MY02 and up, "99-01" means MY99 through MY01 and "-01" means all MY's up to MY01.

Then, when you throw in the various model codes as mentioned by GranburyChuck, not to mention /R - /L (left and right side) and /LL - /RL (left hand drive - right hand drive)....well, you get the picture. Obviously, some care has to be taken when trying to determine which parts to order.

When you have a p/n with an M-code in the "Model" column, simply right-click and select M-Pages. That'll bring up a complete list of all the codes.
